Harry Bertoia
The Italian US-immigrant Harry Bertoia graduated in Denver from Cass Technical High School. He got a scholarship for the Cranbrook Academy of Arts where he founded a metalworking studio.
He worked with Charles and Ray Eames first at Evans Products Company, where he developed techniques of moulding plywood, and for a second time after 1945 at Charles and Ray Eames' Plyformed Products Company.
The great financial success of his famous wire chairs in 1951 enabled him to devote his time solely to sculpturing. You can order a reedition of this masterpiece in our online shop.
