Mart Stam
The Dutch artist Mart Stam worked after his studies in drawing as a draftsman in Rotterdam until 1922. He moved to Berlin and took part in an Bauhaus exhibition of 1923.
After a short period in Paris he returned to Amsterdam. 1926 Stam built his first cantilever chair and became a founding member of the Congrés Internationaux d`Architecture Moderne in 1927. Stam later even worked in Russia as a city planner and after World War II in the former GDR, teaching architecture and design.
