Wilhelm Wagenfeld
Wilhelm Wagenfeld´s Bauhaus lamp with its foot made of glass or chrome has become famous as a unique piece of art. The lampshade consists of opal glass, expressing modern contemporary design. Initially created 1923 it´s now available as a reedition in the collection of modern classic furniture design at Timelessclassics.
The craftsman Wagenfeld experienced his artistic education at the Bauhaus (1923-1925). Specializing in metal processing he worked as a teacher in Weimar from 1926-1930.
Wagenfelds clear, rational design style has been realized in many works for two prominent companies, Schott & Gen. (Jena) and the Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke (VLG) in Weißwasser, where he got the director job.
1931-1935 and 1949 Wilhelm Wagenfeld worked as a university teacher in Berlin. 1949 he made a contract with the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF)(1949). 1954 Wagenfeld founded his own workshop in Stuttgart for the development of models for industry design.
