The legendary Lounge Chair, by Charles Eames, was a furniture design created in 1950s and 1960s and is composed of three curved plywood shells: the headrest, the backrest and the seat. With this Design he reached worldwide fame. This chair offers unmistakably luxurious comfort of the highest quality. Charles and Ray Eames aimed to develop furniture that could be mass-produced and affordable, with the exception of the Eames Lounge Chair*. This luxury item was inspired by the traditional English Club Chair. The Eames Lounge Chair has become iconic with Modern style design, although when it was first made, Ray Eames remarked in a letter to Charles that the chair looked "comfortable and un-designy". Charles's vision was for a chair with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." The chair is composed of three curved plywood shells: the headrest, the backrest and the seat. The Lounge Chair as well his Aluminium Group office chairs quickly became the absolute classics of modernism. The perfect complement to the Lounge Chair shall be the Lounge Chair Ottoman. His right choice of material in connection with design and manufacturing process resulted in a pioneering elegance in many areas of Bauhaus design. Basically his Bauhaus furniture classics show a clear concise form and is oriented to the geometry and material design.
