Charles Eames Style, Alu Group office chair EA 108

In the 1950s artist and Bauhaus designer Charles Eames designed the Aluminium Group Chair EA 108. It consists of a rotating, chrome-plated* aluminum frame. It is covered with fine, highly durable semi-aniline* leather � 1.5 - 1.8mm, or very sturdy cotton.

Charles Eames was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and studied at the Washington University architecture. In 1936 he received a grant from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, where he later taught. His colleagues there included Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen and Ray Kaiser, whom he married in 1941. The Aluminum Office Chair EA 108, by Charles Eames, was a furniture design created in 1950s and 1960s. Together with his wife Ray Eames both had an influential role in the development of the Bauhaus chairs style. Due this inspired time several designs of aluminum chairs have been developed.
The best known of office chairs by Charles Eames were awarded the markings EA 108, EA 117, EA 112, EA 217 and EA 219.

When in 1956 he the now legendary Lounge Chair* got designed and developed, Charles Eames reached worldwide fame. The Lounge Chair as well as the aluminum chairs are now considered absolute modern classics.
