Only since about 1926 curved steel became the material for furniture design. The Brno cantilever chair from 1929 gives a special seating comfort due to the curved shapes of the flat spring steel. The luxury variant of the chair was designed for the dining room of Villa Tugendhat* in Brno. For this villa in the Bauhaus style, design and shape, L.M. van der Rohe* was responsible.
